Can AI engines find you?
Free 90-second scan of one page's SEO, GEO and AEO signals — the machine-readable reasons Google, ChatGPT and Perplexity do (or don't) surface your business.
No signup. Or see a sample report first, and read what the scan checks.
What does this scan check?
The scan runs 10 rule-based checks across 5 categories, covering about 80% of the on-page signals that search and AI engines are documented to use. Each metric is graded from A+ down to F in plain English, then blended into 3 axis grades — SEO (traditional search), GEO (AI citation) and AEO (answer boxes) — so you can see exactly where the gaps are before spending a dollar on fixes.
| ID | Metric | What it checks |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | AI Crawler Access | robots.txt rules for 12 AI crawlers, llms.txt |
| A2 | Indexability Foundations | HTTPS, sitemap, canonical, accidental noindex |
| B1 | Core Schema | Organization / WebSite / page-level JSON-LD |
| B2 | Answer Schema | FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, HowTo where relevant |
| C1 | Answer-First Paragraphs | Self-contained, conclusion-first paragraphs with data |
| C2 | Question Headings & FAQ | Question-phrased headings, visible FAQ, immediate answers |
| D1 | Metadata Hygiene | Title, meta description, Open Graph, URL structure |
| D2 | Semantic Structure | Single H1, heading hierarchy, alt text, internal links |
| E1 | E-E-A-T Signals | Author identity, about/contact, freshness, citations |
| E2 | Performance & Mobile | Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) via PageSpeed Insights |
How is the score calculated?
Think of it like a building inspection for your website. We visit your page the same way the robots behind Google, ChatGPT and Claude do — the automated readers that decide whether to show you to a customer — and run the same 10 checks every time, then give each one a grade from A+ down to F. We're checking down-to-earth things: can those AI readers actually get in and read your page? Does it answer real questions in the first line, with facts and numbers instead of waffle? Is it clear who you are and how to reach you? We keep the exact recipe to ourselves — that's our craft — but every grade comes with a plain-English note on what's holding you back and the first step to fix it.
This isn't just our opinion. Our method follows published Princeton University research (2024), which found that pages answering questions directly — and backing the answer with a fact or a source — get quoted by AI engines about 40% more often. We also keep the checks current as new AI readers appear. And we're honest about one limit: we can only read your page itself. We can't see what people say about you on Reddit, reviews or other sites — which matters to AI too — so we leave that out rather than guess. In short, your grade tells you the shop is well built and the doors are unlocked; it doesn't count who's already walking in.
Who is this for?
Whale AI Search Score is built for small-business owners — restaurants, beauty and wellness, allied health, trades — who want a 90-second answer to one question: when the next customer asks Google or ChatGPT for what you sell, do you show up? It is the same first step we run on every client site, reported in plain English and 中文, with fixes ranked by impact rather than wrapped in jargon — see how the score is calculated.
Frequently asked questions
Is the scan really free?
Yes — the scan is free, unlimited within fair-use limits (5 scans per 10 minutes), and the report is never locked behind an email address. We built it because the first honest step of any SEO engagement is measurement.
How accurate is a rule-based score?
The score is a strong proxy, not a measurement of live rankings: it checks 10 machine-readable signals that search and AI engines are documented to use, and explains every grade in plain English. It cannot see off-site authority such as Reddit or Wikipedia mentions, and says so rather than guessing.
Does one page represent my whole site?
One page is a sample, not a site audit — but your homepage carries about 80% of the signals that matter: robots.txt, schema, metadata and trust signals are usually site-wide. Scan your homepage first, then 1–2 key service pages.
Can you fix what the scan finds?
Yes — that is our day job. Whale Digital builds measurement-first websites for Melbourne small businesses and runs a Growth Services retainer covering exactly these 10 metrics. Send us your scan link and we will tell you honestly which items are worth paying for.
